Institutions Involved in Document Legalization
This section provides detailed information about the Indonesian government institutions and service offices involved in the document legalization process. For services in other countries, we will coordinate accordingly through our official representatives in each respective country.
🏛️ Ministries / Government Agencies
These institutions conduct initial verification depending on the type of document:
- Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek): Responsible for the verification of educational documents such as diplomas, academic transcripts, and certificates of graduation.
- Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kementerian Agama / Kemenag): Handles the verification of religious documents, including marriage certificates, divorce decrees, and religious school credentials.
- Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kementerian Hukum dan HAM / Kemenkumham): Legalizes notarial and corporate documents, such as deeds of establishment, contracts, and legal declarations.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kementerian Luar Negeri / Kemlu): The final step for legalization or issuance of apostille, following prior validation from other ministries.
- Ministry of Health (Kementerian Kesehatan / Kemenkes): Issues and verifies medical-related documents, including health certificates, vaccination records, and professional licenses for healthcare workers.
🏢 Notary and PPAT Offices
Notary and PPAT offices are responsible for drafting and certifying legal documents such as power of attorney, agreements, and deeds. These are typically legalized at the notarial level before being submitted to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
🏛️ Foreign Embassies & Consulates
Once legalized by Indonesian authorities, many countries require a second legalization step at their embassy or consulate in Indonesia.
- Saudi Arabian Embassy (for employment or Hajj visa)
- German, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese, and other embassies
